I’m a writer & developmental editor based in the SF Bay Area

One of those creative types. I grew up in Pittsburgh, hacked it at drama school, then made a detour to seminary (long story). Somewhere in there, I sharpened my narrative skills by reading a few thousand books & plays, playing video games, and watching too much tv.

These days, I love serving as a developmental editor for other writers’ long-form projects. Let me help you bring your book/film/pilot into the world—we need it.

My Work

“The household deity makes sense to a child. God should live local, have a bedroom and a favorite corner of the shower to sit in. She knows how much sand I bring home in my shoes. Not because she knows all, but because she is sick of cleaning it up...”

The Moth #51

“This town is where, some decades ago, a massive hole ripped open in the ground and swallowed up someone’s entire backyard. Kids were at school, don’t worry. But the hole is still there, a hiccupping little hellhole with a barbed wire fence around it and some drunken asshole falling in about every five years or so. He likes it here…”

“But anyway. In the Apsu, there is no judgement. No good place or bad place. Heaven, Hell. It’s one-size-fits-all. Like some horrible polyester Halloween costume from a bargain store, but for eternity…”

Interim: A Journal of Poetry & Poetics

“From here, we think we can see St. Peter’s Basilica. But all landmarks become obscure when finally encountered, different from the postcards. To be on the safe side, we treat the structure with reverence from our hotel balcony…”

“So I have this radical belief: priests are born. Very few people can both reveal and channel God. Most just do one or the other…”

“Mammalia, what a racket.”

Why work with me? I’m thorough, thoughtful, and writer-oriented. Meaning: I care that our collaboration results in the book most authentic to you.

As for my technical ability, I’ve got the creds to back me up. At Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, I honed a strong dramaturgical sense of narrative structure. I learned how to collaborate with other artists in a theatrical setting and work towards a unified vision. I directed, wrote, dramaturged, and self-produced over a dozen plays. I also taught Narrative Design for Video Games at a CMU pre-college program

While earning my Master of Divinity at Yale University, I further developed my skills as a writer and researcher. Having studied anthropology, history, death studies, and pastoral care (to name a few subjects!), I am an agile thinker who loves working with all kinds of writers. Fun fact: while at Yale, I also began my journey of learning Hindi :)
